Ok, I just noticed some whitish looking spots about the size of a pea on the side of my gold angel. The spots themselves look like the scales are dulled out and not "cottonish" for lack of better words. I started a treatment of melafix and pimafix just in case. Am I overreacting or is this whitespot or just dulled scales?

you won't get whitespot the size of a pea i don't think.

it's normally very small spots.

could be something else though but i'm not sure, does the fish have any other syptoms i.e. darting off rocks etc.

:good:

Whitespot will normally look like the fish has been "salt sprayed" for want of a better phrase... Lots of smallish raised white spots on the fishes body. Its normally noticable on the fins of the fish first, then it spreads rapidly.

A white spot the size of a pea... cant say for sure without a picture, but it definitely doesnt sound like a case of whitespot at that size.
