Might aswell take a sample of your tank water to the lfs to be tested, tell them to write the readings down for you.
I would advise investing in master liquid test kits of your own.

stiffler, since you said that it did indeed look like grains of salt, then that is almost assuredly ich.

It will inform you all about ich and how to defeat it. Ich isn't like a lot of other common parasites -- It is only vulnerable during a very small percentage of its life cycle, so you have to catch it at the right time. You have to medicate long after the spots are gone to make sure that every ich organism in the tank has gone through all of its life cycles, including the vulnerable one, and was thus killed by the medication still in the tank.
