Sorry for being a pain

I have a paroon shark (about 4 inches) that has what looked like white spot, I treated the tank on saturday, and it seemed to clear up, and the next dose is not due until wednesday

However the last day or two things have gotten a lot worse

I have a few small artificial ferns, and they have all become covered in what looks like white spot, and the paroon shark is now almost completly covered in white spots, including on his eyes, and is now moving round very slowly indeed

Is this definatly white spot, or have a misdiagnosed the problem, and is it possibly too late for my paroon shark

Help would be really appreciated

If it is something else I need to get to the shop pronto before they close in the next hour

I always more earleir inless the treatment can injure fish, Try doing a 25% water change, give the plants a rinse then try again. You could also test the water and make sure they have plenty of cover as other factors can bring down the immune system. wot are your water stats like?

ive now removed all the plants and rocks, the paroon is the only fish in the tank

I tested the water last night, and they were as follows

Ph 7.5
Ammonia 0.1mg/l
Nitrite 0.1mg/l
Nitrate 50mg/l

It is an 11 Gallon Tank

Ideally your tank should have no ammonia no nitrate and up to 20mg/l of Nitrite i would definatley do a water change, wot in terms of the bio filter do you add to your water

Here are some pics of the shark I have just taken

I know the Nitrite should be lower

The tank is a Juwel Rekord 60 and its own built in Biological Filter, with the carbon filter removed for treatment purposes

I originally added tap safe to the water when I filled the tank, and had it running fishless for about 3 weeks before adding the shark, but I added tank start to help start off the process, im not sure which one it was as it came with the tank setup

Some treatments damage the bio filter so i would keep adding tank start weekly weekly, i would keep adding treatment as well every 5 days instead of seven with a 25% water change.

I treat my fish with sera castapur and sera ectopur as it makes the parasite detach from the skin and disinfects your tank while the other makes the desease die faster.

it helps to remember the desease lays dormant in your tank and stress and poor water conditions trigger it so try to keep plenty of hiding places and keep your water in the paramiters and it should not re accur

hope this is some help

Right, ive done a water change, added tank start, added tap safe (before adding the water) and added some more treatment

Since then the Shark has now pinned himself to the intake vent of the filter system

He isnt looking good now :(

Are you running extra aeration with the med.

Is he skinny he looks thin to me, abit sunken in on the tummy area.

Also he looks abit golden like a gold dusting on him above is this correct.

Hi Wilder (again:) )

The spots are definately white, its the camera with no flash that has made them look a little golden, plus probably the orange light from the focus assist lamp

I havent fed him for a few days, last time he ate (frozen mussels) he ate the lot and had a swollen stomach till he digested it :)

Im not running extra aeriation, was considering putting an airstone in for the time being, as I have a spare

alot of people who are treating the desease turn the temp up slightly as well by about 2oC however it must be within the tempere tolerance of the fish

Right thought it might of been velvet when a saw the gold bit as they can waste away with that as well, yes run extra aeration as meds take 02 out of the water, plus the higher temp dosn't help, good luck.

He has in the last half hour, lost almost all of his colour, and struggling to swim, he keeps floating up to the surface head first, vertical, then once he gets there, he is making a poor attempt at moving round

Breathing has alomst stopped too now :(

Sadly i think I am going to lose him in the next half an hour

Sadly it does sound that why, he's to weak to survive bless him, he's not in good shape at all, can you issolate him.
