Aaahhhh!!!!! I'v just discovered 1 of my discus has white spot on it
It also has something that looks like cotton wool on his side, but I just done my morning water change there and, the usual fun and games went on when stickin the hose in (they all like to play 'who's got the biggest go-nads' with the hose) and the 'wool' seems to have fallen off? maybe it was something off 1 of my plants or something?
But the white spot is defo still there :shout: oh well..... looks like the next couple of weeks are going to be filled with treatment and EVEN MORE water changing!

The joy :-(

Cotton wool like sounds like fungus.

White spot is actually an external parasite, and they are perfectly round, small, white spots.

Yep, good water change, and keep an eye for that fish for further symptoms. When you know what it is, then medicate. Wrong medication doesn't work and weakens fish. :/

Smashin thanks. I'v put in some fungas treatment and I think I'v cought it it time as its all but gone. I'll still put 1 more dose in on day 4 anyway... just to be safe.

This is what happens when you buy fish from a different supplier  but got lovely lookin fish so hopefully it will all be worth it.

Certainly sounds like and external parasite or fungus. What meds are you using?

The outer surface, the "cotton wool" bit is almost like algae, in that it seems to come of if they rub on something, or as you say, get to close to suction.

I've had this recently in corys and treated with Melafix, but if its bad, something stronger might be needed.

Its Interpet anti fungas and finrot treatment i have. Im afraid i dont know too much about treatments  is this ok? It seems to have cleared it so far though.
