Hi again I got some Geophagus Tapajo - Red heads about a week ago saw they had some white spot so started treating them with Waterlife Protozin. Today they look worse than ever, all are bottom sitting with fins clamped one has a pretty freyed tail. What should I do just keep treating with Protozin or should I try and get something else?

The tank is a 10g with a mature filter in, it is bare bottom with a coconut, potted plant and some rocks. Ammonia is 0, NitrIte is 0 and Nitrate is 20(ish). Ph is 7, I have had the fish for about a week and they have had a waterchange last night.

Have you raised temp to 30.
Increased aeration.
Removed black carbon from filter.

Are you using the full dose. Can you use the full dose with these type of fish.
Also did you add the whitespot med back to water removed.

As far as I know the Geos are okay with full dose so have been giving them a full dose. The temp is at 30 no carbon in filter just a single sponge. Airation is at max. And I added the first days dose this morning of a new course, I have been recommended by an other reliable member to dose daily with this product so thats what Ive been doing.

Of the three fish I think it looks like we will loose one of them :( but 2 are significantly better than the other. But all 3 are bottom sitting.

I would follow the med instructions.
It can take two round of meds to get rid of whitespot.

Can you add salt with these type of fish.

So far as I know they are okay with salt but will do some searching to find out. Is it epsom salts I need or other?

Dont know if you remember but about my other tank but I have found out one of my problems the heater was set up really high at about 29/30 both species dont like the high temps but they have settled down now.

Lost 2 this morning, :(

Poor things.
R.I.P.

Add a tablespoon of salt in a jug of tank water. Stir till it disolves and add to the tank.
Not epson salt that's more for bloating.

Lost the other at dinner time. Thanks for the help Wilder think its time to take a break from fish for me I will care for the ones I have as usual but no more buying for a while.

I've done the samething.
Only have one panda cory left in a 30 gallon tank. He's old now.
Lost interest abit in fish keeping.
