Sorry if this is not the proper section

I have a bit of Mopani wood i put in my tank a couple of days ago.It is now getting covered in a white slimey covering on certain parts.I`m sure it`s some kind of fungus.I have had a look online and some people say take it out and scrub it,the wood is about 4ft long so this could be a pain. Some said add a plec and that will eat it.Would a bristlenose plec do the job ? Can anyone help me with this ?

Cheers Spike

Scrub in hot salty water. Rinse well. let dry out for a day or two.
