White Shoots On Egeria Densa

I've planted several egeria densa's at the back of my tank but notice that there long thin white shoots starting to trail halfway up the plant can anbody tell me about this ?

the white bits are roots you can cut them off if you want to it wont affect the plant . why it does it i dont know
