White Residue

Ok, So I Figured Out I Have All These Little White Particles Floating all In My 10 G Tank I now Have One Molly In There. On My HOB Filter The Part That Sticks Down Into The Water Is Getting All This White Residue On it Is Anyone Familiar with this?

does the water look pearlized any?
i had a similar problem but after a 75% water change, a capfull of water clearer, and new filter media
the white stuff went away

i still havent figured out exactly what it was but it went away within 48hours
luckily i didnt have any fish in there at the time since it was still cycling


test the water and do a 50% water change
then test the water again 24hours later

my filter intake didnt look like that but the water was whitish looking (almost like it had white pearl paint in it)

My Molly Is Doing Fine Hes Been In There About 13 Hours. And Thats What Mine Had Looked Like It Had A Pearl Paint Floating On Top Of The Water. And Sorry About The My Space Thing I Didnt Know You Needed To Login To View Images. I Guess I Need To Find A New Image Hosting Service. But Since My Molly Has Been Doing Fine Im Considering Transfering My Other Fish In There Tomorrow If I Can Get This Problem Solved Or If He Doesnt Die The 5 Gallon Hex They're In Now Doesnt Even Seem Humane. And Ive Changed The Water Multiple Times But The "White Substance" Keeps Coming Back

keep changing it until it goes away

maybe put new filter media in your filter
put a cap full of water clearifier every few hours until it goes away

take the molly out for the day and put it in a seperate tank or large clean plastic container full of pre-conditioned water that is the same temperature as the water in the tank


again keep changing the water until its clear
and i wouldnt put any fish in there until it is clear because just because the fish seems fine doesnt always mean it is, it could be slowly getting sick or even dieing

you could probably just go to walmart and get a 10gallon tank for about $10 for a temporary home for the molly , or you can get a smaller tank for about the same price just make sure you clean the tank with water and whatever you do DONT use soap
