Hi everyone,
Some of my fish (not all) seems to be showing signs of white stringy poop YET AGAIN!
What type of meds can I use to treat? I need something powerfull because I really want to get rid of this stuff once and for all!
Last time this happened I used the jungle tablets (parasite clear tank buddies) and im still using the medicated fish food 3 times a week because it said to do that for a month. This is the last week for the food.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Any help would be great.
Thanks :/

How many fish do you have, what size tank and what are your water stats? White poop is usually due to an internal bacteria infection, but i wouldn't act too soon to medicate the tank again as the old med may still be present in the water and just complicate things further.
Try using "anti internal bacteria" med by interpet, but make sure all the old med is out of the water(via water changes over time) first as some meds can react and interfere with each other causing more stress for the fish.

I have been doing frequent water changes. After after 48 hours after the tablet was in, I would do a water change.
I have 3 mollies, 4 neons, 2 guppies and 2 platties plus fry. The fry are in breeders nets and will be moved to my bigger tank once they can be released from the breeders net.
Theses are my water stats:

nitrate - 20 ppm
nitrite - 2.0 ------This is high right??? Why is it so high??
total hardness - hard
total alkalinity - moderate to ideal
ph - neutral

Any other suggestions as to what to do?

Thanks :/

From what i have gathered, you shouldn't be having nitrites in a cycled tank; do you know your ammonia stats?
I have never used jungle tablets to treat fish(i always stick to the Interpet meds because they seem the most effective and are a good quality med brand), so i couldn't say wether you were using the med effectivly or not. How frequent are your water changes on average and how long have you been doing them?
If you were doing many water changes while using the med you may have lowered its levels in the tank water making it less effective; also doing frequent water changes on a long-term basis can stress the fish out making them less likely to respond to the med.

Try and get hold of a med called clout for internal parasites.

The instructions on the tablets said to do water changes after 48 hours of using the med, but I do understand what you are saying.
Im going to look into getting that med you suggested earlier.
I do not know my ammonia stats as it does not test that with the test kit I got. But why are my nitrites so high?
Im just so fustrated with these parasites! They just wont go away :(
HELP!

What does clout do? How does clout compare to anti internal bacteria med by interpet? Do they do the same things?
Thanks -_-

Worm-Free Treatment for all worms ( helminths); intestinal, Acanthocephala; digentic trematodes; Cestoda;molluscicie ( snails ) 1/8 teaspoon per 10 gallons. ( Do not mix in food )

Clout
Manufacturer: Aquarium Products
A very strong and effective medication for parasitic and protozoan infestations. Treats: Ich, Hydra, leeches, Planaria, Epistylis, Trichodina, Hexamita,Tetrahy-mena, body fungus, digenetic flukes, parasitic copepods, monogenetic flukes and anchor worms.

Doubt if you would be able to get interpet meds in canada only would use that med if they got a second infection from the worms, as its an internal bacteria med no good for treating worms it's self.

If it's not a new tank, I would believe that the meds you are using are harming your biological filter causing the nitrites. If it is a new tank, I would say you are just cycling.

Check out this post http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=86206&hl=

Try that, just make sure you know the upper temp limit for all the fish you are treating.

I just read that thread and it says to use "metronidazole". Is anyone familar with this product?
How do you classify a tank as a new tank? My tank has been up and running since Feb of this year.
Is clout the med that treats white stringy poop? Are the white stringy things im seeing worms? If not what are they?
Thanks everyone so far for your help
