Had a 70l set up with a couple of pieces of driftwood for a couple of days and seems to be white mould/algae growing on them just wondering if I should leave it and eventually when I add fish etc it would get eaten or should I clean it out when I do water change?

Yeah, it's very common on new bits of wood; it's a sort of algae that feeds on nutrients leeching from the wood.

It's harmless and will go away on it's own, eventually, when the nutrients are used up. Some fish will eat it, or you can clean it off, but it might come back a few times, until those nutrients are gone.

Ok I will just leave it for now clean it if it gets out of control as its only small amounts so far

I have another odd question that someone might be able to help with, the side of the tank seems to get sunlight on it and seems like there is green dots of algae growing on the outside of the tank? (Seems rough when running finger along but I can't seem to get it of if it is on the outside) but besides pulling the curtains to stop the sun any other way I could stop the sun. Causing more growth?
