White Moss Ball In My Tank

Hi. I need some advice on my tank. There is white moss like ball which is on one of my live plants at the base and i don't know what it is. i was thinking it was either some kind of fish eggs or maybe a fungus??

is it actually attached to the plant? If no, then it could be uneaten food which is starting to decompose, hence the fungus.

No it's not attatched it's just growing around the base. if it is decomposing food is it safe to be in the tank or do i need to remove it? Thanks

erm... like with most rotting things, Remove It Immediately!

I would remove it as it would be causing unnecessary ammonia.
