I was wondering if you could tell me a little bit about White Labs ( LABIDOCHROMIS CAERULEUS "NKHATA BAY" )? I am hoping to breed these fish as they are very rare for my area aswell as hope to breed some Cuckoo catfish with them aswell. But starting out I am just going with the Labs. I have bred Yellow labs before, so I was wondering if the Whites would be the same?

I was also wondering the same thing about Deep Water Haps ( PLACIDOCHROMIS ELECTRA ). I'd like to breed these guys as well, would they be compatible with the White Labs, in a 75 gallon tank?

Both will be fairly easy to breed from, remember to get your M to F ratio right and keep them healthy! To aid their spawning as much as possible you should make sure you have good filtration, keep a good water change schedule, match their requirements as closely as possible and feed them a good diet. Once they get a hang of it they will breed quite regularly.

Interesting fact, caeruleus in latin means 'blue'. This is because the yellow variant was not found when L. caeruleus was first discovered in 1956, this was discovered much later in the 1980's. There is a very interesting article (well I think its interesting! lol) to be found here
