I have not been able to get the nitrite levels right, but have the ph levels, what shoulld I be doing to get this right?

Regards

Andy

could you be more descriptive of the white spots?
are they fluffy or like crystals? are they all over, in one place or hear and there?
what are you water parameters?

Hi Shadowfax... does it look like salt sprinkled over the body? if so it could be ICH. Check out the pinned article at the top of this forum... it'll tell you how to identify it and how to get rid of it.

Good Luck!!

Valerie

oh.. and btw. I've got mollies too... i love them!

Hi, right the "white" dots look fluffy they wave inthe water. My PH level is 7.5, nitrite is around 2 mg/i and I am awaiting my Ammonia test kit. I have just gently disturb the garvel and the did a 25% water change and added the required Fresh start (chlorine/metal remover) and Filter Start (bacteria).....

Right look forward from hearing from you...

It sound like a fungus, you should seperate if possible
and treat with malachite green or any anti-fungal mediction.
If you can't seperate the fish you need to treat the whole tank.

Do you know a link to a UK web site where I can get that from? I have no local :/ shop...

Andy

Thanks, I have some anti fungas and bacteria solution....

4 mollies is too much for a 5 gallon tank. your tank is overstocked which is probably contributing to bad water quality, which in turn probably led to disease. I wouldn't keep any more than 2 mollies in there, and if they are sailfins none at all. (Those are too big)

Hi, the aquarium I bought it from recommended this to me for my 5 gallon tank (20 litres), the saud I should not have more than 6-8 inch size fish it there.....

Now I'm confused

Andy

The normal ruling is 1inch of fish per gallon of water......in a small tank though I would only go with small fish for that rule.
