>.< White Blotchy Spots On Neon

I think it is a neon tetra disease as I have seen this before and it can spread to other fish.
I did get a green medicine from my lfs and this worked however I am not an expert and cannot advise.
Forums rules however some may say its kinder to euthanase than to keep him/her suffering.

I am a neon tetra fan scarce though we are I managed to keep most of mine when two got it and still have one of my original 11 and that was three years so... Don't know how long they last but I am happy to still have one.

i gonna try and cure him....hopefuly i can be succesful...really sucks  hes in a 10 gal along with 4 other neons 2 albino cory one otocinclus and a whip tail cat are they indanger of contracting such a horrid virus?

If your neon has Neon Tetra Disease, then there's no cure, and they will have it. BUT if it has False Neon Tetra Disease then it should respond to antibacterials, but you need to treat all of your neon's as if one has it then they all have it!

Where are the blotches on the fish and do they look fluffy.
Ntd can start of with white blotches spots as mine did.
Signs to look for is a black linning around the red area.
Lumps on the belly that go to a point.
Leaving the shoal and being restless.
Going thin even curved spine.
Popeye and dropsy.
Swimming oddly.
Can go yellow looking in the blue area, and on the red area can look creamy in texture.

Your other fish "should" be ok, providing you have no other type's of Tetra's. Whilst I haven't been able to find anything difinitive on whether or not it can cross tetra species, I've definately found nothing indicating that it can cross to other species.

With regard to Wilder's list of symptoms, these are correct however, your fish may not display all of these symptoms, you may only have one or two.

I have had one die so far from it (they all have it to varying degrees) as far as symptoms, it had a small white irregular shaped blotch on one of the tail flukes, the red and blue stripes were dull in comparison to the other healthier ones and the silver area above the red & blue had turned grey. No other symptoms and it was still schooling with the other 7 until it died somtime Monday night/Tuesday. I do however have another one that is still going well with the symptoms I just listed along with white irregular lumps on one side of it's body and what looks to be scales sticking up on the other side of it's body, I have to say that I thought that this would be the one that died first as it "appears" to be the sickest, but it is still eating well and schooling with the group.
