Normally about 4 days after ive cleaned my tank the glass will start to get fine white algae on it, i had a group of 4 ottos when i got the tank last year but 3 have died off so theres only one left but the thing is they never seemed to clean the algae and the one thats left just spends his day on the side of the glass not doing much. what the best algae cleaning fish to buy thats quite small?

white algae sounds like dead hair algae. Although you say it returns as white?

It may be some sort of fungus growing on the glass, have you got any pictures?

not got any pics yet as i just cleaned the tank the other day and it normally takes a few days for it to grow on the glass, i clean it off with a scraper but it just grows back a few days after cleaning it. it might just be a normal thing but i will get some pics up in the next few days, the last few times ive noticed little tiny flea like things moving around on the glass but these only come after about a week

I'm pretty sure its hydra...they show up where water is. Harmless to fish but I've heard they can take fry. Keep scraping and do water changes weekly to keep them down
