I can try to add pictures later tonight or tomorrow, but I'll do my best to describe it.  It's white and it first started growing slowly on my fake plants, right around when I started my slow transition to brackish water (I think).  I wasn't too worried before, but I realized today it is getting kind of bad.  It's wavy/fluffy and covering the top of the rocks in my tank and stringy on the side of the tank, in addition to growing on the fake plants.

My water is otherwise fine: had it checked today.  SG is .0002-.0003 so just lightly brackish.

I put two small nerites in there earlier today but I doubt that's enough to make an impact, even if they don't get devoured by my puffer (as I'm anticipating will happen eventually).

Is this algae?  Do I need to do something about this algae growth, now or eventually?  If not algae, what else could it potentially be for me to research?

If algae - what should I do?  I have a 10gal with an F8 and a bumblebee goby, with no real plants and only dim lighting...

Alright, it won't let me delete this apparently, but upon further inspection it does have a slight green tinge despite looking white and I definitely think it's algae.  And from what I read, it makes sense that going brackish would cause this...

I've started combing through threads and doing my homework but I would still appreciate any input about what to do going forward because I'm a complete noob to all of this.  Including whether or not algae is a problem for any reason other than aesthetics?  I've read that but at the same time almost everything everywhere is about getting rid of it...

As mentioned, I have a 10gal low-end brackish tank with dim light (no actual lights on the tank itself).  As far as I know my only "option" for an algae eater [that can survive my F8] is nerites, which doesn't seem to be working out as the two I put in there earlier are already either eaten or disguised.

It's hard to tell without a photo. However I feel your instinct is right, it's probably algae that the salt is affecting.
