Whirling disease??

Yeah, it's very hard.
The only thing I can think of is what Jasper went through because of the swimming in circles. But then I am not sure if it's circles as in chasing the tail circles, or circles from top to bottom of the tank or what.

I no it's hard, at least doctors can do tests we don't have that luxury, best just to observe the fish and see how it goes, if it get worse i think I would put if out of it's misery, sad i no.

It was a tetra that was swimming in circles. When he wasn't, he was just staying in one place. It wasn't chasing his tail type circles. It was more like a convulsion. after a while he starting wasting from not eating.
I found the betta standing on his head one day. I put him in a hospital tank and eventually he couldn't even get to the bottom of it. Now he's just floating at the top. One of his eyes has since become cloudy. He still reacts when you come near. I could get a picture but it wouldn't show anything. His color is normal. I did test the nirtrates but I lost the color code chart. The test showed yellow, I think that means no nitrates. It's the one where you put ten drops of each of two solutions in. I think that it shouldn't be 0 nitrates because the tank has been running for more then two years.

you could have a bacterial disease happening as the cloudy eyes would suggest that.

I'm thinking so. I also am afraid that any treatment as of now would have no effect. I hate to put this fish through anymore stress in his condition. It's so hard watching this poor guy waste away.

Was the betta kept with the tetra, to be honest he sounds bad and i don't think he will make it, and he sounds like he is suffering, it's up to you it's your fish and you can see how bad he is, but you will no when, sorry, hate these type of posts.

Yep, They were together, this is why I am worried. No other fish in the tank are sick as of now. I really think it's to late for the betta but he is still trying to live. I'll give him a couple more days maybe. Thanks for all the replies

i don't know if she is going to post anymore on this topic, because over the weekend the poor boy has died ... if you didn't know i suggested that nancy come here with her concerns as i currently work with her and did not know what was wrong with her betta.... thank you all for your help and i'm sure you will see more of her around the forums!

thanks for all the help. I thought for a moment he was getting better but then I found him in the morning dead. Poor guy.

Just keep a close eye on the other fish but you probably are already doing, good luck.
