:/ Tiger Barbs, Rummynose Tetras, or Black Neon Tetras

I can't decide.

Depends on your additional stocking. If you are making a species tank, then go for the tiger barbs as they will be mean to other fish. But if want large shoals with other species, then go for either of the tetras

well.. how many tiger babrs could I put in a 72 gallon with 12 cories.. 5 SAEs in it?

how many rummy nose tetras?

k

Black neons aren't really that interesting, IMO. I'd go for the barbs or rummy nose.
I know.. there are 7 in there right now.. they will be moving to my 55 gallon soon.

mm... any videos of rummies swimmign around? whya re barbs so much more intrestijng?

i have owned barbs and i have owned rummynose. rummynose are equivlent to neon tetras, white cloud minnows or glow light tetra. they really dont do much. barbs are alot more energetic and all in all have more personality.

mm.. got any videos? or pictures?

Rummies.

They are beautiful fish but take some time to settle in and colour up. Active fish, nice tight schooling behavior plus they are gentle and compatable with most community fish. Get a large school, at least 12 and you will be rewarded.

should I get 12 all at once? or in groups of 4? also, there are different types or rummies.. :/ are they all the same? will the ddifferent types shoal togethere?

In a tank the size you have I would go ahead and get 12 at the same time.

Of the 3 species of rummies, the one you are likely to see is Hemigrammus bleheri. aka Firehead tetra. Hemigrammus rhodostomus is rarely seen and Petitella georgia is rarer yet. Care is the same for all three.
Here is an excellent article on the three species of Rummy-nose: http://www.petsforum.com/characin/carey/ar..._rummynose.html

edit: I just wanted to add that these fish usually look rather plain in the store. It can take some time for the red to really get brilliant on them. The pattern on the tail will get more striking too as time goes on. A lot of tetras are like this, they don't reach the full potential until they settle in for a while but when they do they can be quite beautiful.

oh I know.. it is olike when I bought my black neons.. they where tiny.. but now those first 4 are very very big and well defined.. not jsut alittle fry thing haha

which type of corydoras do u have? IME, rounded dorsal finned corys dont go well with tiger barbs for some reason. these are like bronze, albino etc. the barbs nip their dorsal alot.
however, triangular dorsal finned corys, like peppered or swartzi etc, go fine.
