Hi, basically I just want to know which one of these two set ups is the better option:

number 1:
Aquaone m50 bow front "18 x "18 x "18 ish complete with stand only 6 months old
Arcadia s3 mini 150w halide with 10k lamp and hanging kit only 4 months old
Interpet t5 blue moon in diy metal case
Aquamedic mini chiller (Temp display does not work but doesnt effect the chiller)
Aquamedic biostar floater skimmer
maxijet 900
maxijet 600
sys 2k temp module
sys 2k dual light module
150w heater

£300

OR

option 2: 36 inch by 15 inch by 15 inch tank, with stand and arcadia luminaire (4 tubes, two actinic), 150 watt heater

£210

Thanks :D

It's gotta be the first option, that sounds like a nice littler setup, especially with chiller, halide and Flotor skimmer. Go for it!

ok that sounds awesome, anyone got advice on hanging halides?

Also, if anyones got pice of whole tank (including halides) that would be good, cos my auntie thinks it will make our living room look like a torture chamber :grr:

Get some simple wall brackets from B&Q or somewhere, they cost about £3 i think. screw them into your wall and hang the halide from that.

I'd never reccomend hanging the Halide from the ceiling to be honest.

Yeah, I've seen a bunch of people build big hoods to hide their pendand halides. The hoods themselves are usually 1-2 feet tall above teh lid of the tank. Seems to work really well for them :D

I'd never reccomend hanging the Halide from the ceiling to be honest.

Can I ask why you wouldnt recomend it?

- If you need to take it down for any reason, brackits are far easier.
- Any DIY "noob" can put up a pair of brackets rather than drilling through the ceiling.
- If you have high ceilings it is highly impractical.
- Wall is usually made of a more solid material in which to drill.
- And what if you want to move the tank?
