My main problem with my tank is algae, so I was wondering, which plants would be good for platies. Is there any specific one or can I just get any.
I'm starting a new tank so I'm wondering if I could put the plants in and get them going before I get the fish.
And is there a kind of bottom dweller I should get to go with the plants.
I have a 20 gallon tank, and neon lights.

Thanks in advance for any help.

A good plant for a start up freshwater is hornwort. It is easy to take out since it is a floating plant when you decide to do the planting. It really cuts down algae by starving it out. Anacharis is another one that is very easy don't use excel with it since it will melt, this plant roots but can also float. Water sprite can either float or be planted. Those are my top 3 picks for a start up tank. For an algae eater for a planted tank I stick with otto cats they are bottom dwellers. Make sure you get more than one they do much better in at least pairs, sae and cae seem to dig up the tank more. Cae will get to big for your 20 gallon tank. Cory cats are a great little bottom fish as well. Cories do better with more than one I have 3 in my 29 gallon.
