Hi as the title says I'm looking to add a couple of plants to a cichlid tank, Not looking for anything to high maintenance, high tec. lighting or co2 systems etc.
Very small tank with a footprint of W39cm x D33cm x H43cm Fishbox 48ltr which will home a couple of shell dwellers. Substrate is Aragonite Coral Gravel which will be covered with silica sand.
At the moment I have picked up 2 small Vallis Spiral, was interested in the plant that oxygenates the water, think it can float as well, interseted in Vallis nana but none in the shop, also would a small pice of Java Fern be ok? Really just looking for something to add a bit of depth and put a feature in the back corners to take attention off filter and heater.
Any info/advice greatly appreciated :good:

Vallis spiralis and all vallis need to be planted in the substrate. That being said, Vallis has a good tolerance for alkaline conditions, so it is a good choice. Favor vallis nana, which I have grown under low light very successfully. I also have hard water. :)

Other options for a small tank are anubias petite nana, anubias nana, and small java fern. Both are pretty tough.

Neat tank setup. You should post pictures when you're done. I like shell dwellers. So much personality for such a teeny tiny little fish.
