Which Light ?

Setting up a 4' 12'' 15'' tank, the hood is a cheap tacky plastic thing with space for only one tube !
Will one be enough, if so which one ? The local shops have heaps of choice, ranging from £10 to £40 (phew ! )
Intend to plant, and use CO2...

Also, in one shop they were doing tubes that were about 10mm dia !!! whats that all about ? the 42'' ones looked very fragile !

It really depends on what you want to do with the tank, i presume you want to add plants, but you can have low and highlight tanks, you could always consider power compacts if you want to go the route of more watts over the tank, i suggest you have a read of gf225s pinned article on lighting and that will give you a very good idea of whats involved, and then you can decide what way you would like to go with the tank, i can assure you there are lots of us in here that can cram lights over tanks in some pretty creative ways, but it really depends on what tank (low or highlight) and level of maintainence you want to go for.
