Which cats???

I've just set up two more tanks in my garage for South American cichlids.
In one tank I intend this week to add some juvenile Green Severums and in the other - juvenile Green Terrors.
I'm hoping to eventually obtain a breeding pair of each!
I want to add something to keep the bottom of the tanks clean and something to keep the algae down - what do you think?
I don't want anything that will grow too big, so the max size I want is something around six inches.
I obviously can't add Oto's or Cory's and I've so far shortlisted Hoplos and Bristlenoses.
Any advice offered would be most welcome.

A friend has just suggested Brochis as they are bigger than Corys.
Has anyone kept them with medium-large Cichlids?

I would think brochis would do fine.
