A tank with 1 female jewel and 1 male demasoni sounds like a god awful setup. As said many times before, jewel females are just as aggressive as males. They'd end up killing each other if you don't overstock.

HAhaha too bad i DON`T OWN this setup nor DO i have any current info how the fish are doing. BUt i will pass on your warnings for sure. But one thing remains valid, this guy is keeping it for months now and that jewel was such a QUIET BABE XD..

I only have seven green tigers and 2 mystery apples for my self in my 20g. I am much into plants now and will try to get some corys to take care of the mess that these mystery snails make.

I would NOT attempt to keep a Jewel with any other fish unless you have a spare tank to move one or the other to. I have experimented with different fish and only found a few that the Jewel will tolerate. But you have to understand, I have a 10g, a 40g, a 55g, a 65g, and a 75g. I can move fish around as needed if compatibility is off. You should not do this as I have a very unorthodox method of handling my fish. I am prepared to deal with the problem when they arise. I can definitely say that A LOT of people advised me to take the Jewel back. She is hell packed into 4 inches. Your friend got very lucky.

that's merely months. The jewel and demasoni are not full grown. I can assure you that with my convict which I've had for about a month now, I could put some guppies in a tank with her and they'd be fine. Even though convicts are notoriously aggressive and able to hold their own with larger fish. Granted, I could even throw in a jewel cichlid and a firemouth in the same tank that are young, and have a convict, firemouth, and jewel in a 30 inch long tank. But given some time to grow and become adult fish, they'll be ripping each other apart. And I don't have a doubt in my mind that the only fish I'd have left in that tank would be the jewel.

just wondering, can it be that the fish is sad or under some stress, whats comes out of whatever you guys are saying is that They are 'Jewels In Aggression' Now this guy says that she enjoys on her own staying on the ground between the plants for hours and the blue auratus that he calls them(though i told him its demasoni) don`t mess around with it. Heyy can it be the jewel is sad and being quiet and nonaggressive means its acting odd and not copying its natural behaviour. I think after doing so much research about the fish and understanding what is going to happen, EVEN IF its not MY FISh, I am freakishly concerned NOW. I hope that Associate doesn`t think of me as a twerp, but I am getting concerned.
