whether eels can be put in the same tank which have carps, guppies and mollys. my friend told me that eels will eat all the waste. and it wont hurt any other fishes.is that true? can i put eels with my carps and other small fishes?

As far as I know, most eels suited to a freshwater home aquarium will get very large and will need 5-6 foot long tanks as a minimum. They can also be very predatory.

Perhaps your friend is thinking of some other eel-like fish (such as khuli loaches) and refering to them as eels?

In order to help you properly we need to know a little more about your tank, such as how large it is, what fish you have and how many fish you have.

What fish do you mean by "carp"? There are many species in that family.

you need to give us an idea of what kind of eel.

some people think khuli loaches are eels due to their shape and they would be fine, members of the spiny eel family would be a risj to the smaller fish you have

i dont know which type eel fish is that. he bought that from a marine exhibition, almost 6 months back. he told me that eels are good scavengers and it looks like a small snake. i havent seen that fish.thats why i asked here.his tank is a 10 foot long one and have mollys (black, white, baloon), guppies and some carps.
i have two golden carps, 1 silver one, 2 blue golds 6 yellow carps( i think yellow ones are locally breeded ones)one pair of white molly, 2 pairs of Angels and some guppies.
