ok so i got a new tank for my ever growning fish (especally iridescent sharks) it 25 gallons. this is now a good size because my sharks are between 2-3 inches long (2 of them). so they were in there for about a week and they seemed fine, then one day they seemed less energenic and they are now just laying on the bottom, not moving unless nessary. the tank stats are normal and i'm getting comfused.... none of my other tanks have ever done this. i am hoping this may be characteristic of the iridescent shark because i have only had them a short time now. At least then i can be at rest with their health. if not , what is causing this ?? i have done a water change today(about 10% as to not disturb them if they are really stressed) and i am completley lost as to what is wrong! thanks for any help.

ohhh also forgot to add that there is a larg build up of alge on the tank's front wall as well as the rocks infront to the filter out flow . when i noticed this i put a snali in there with my pleco, but because they are both small it may take some human scrubing to fik that .

Is there a chance that some chemical may have gotten into the water. Not trying to panic you, it's simply a possibility. Also what is your temp sitting at? Do the fish have any odd marks on there bodies? White specks black specks red fins or gills . Any odd blemeshes at all? Just out of curiousity what are your stat's at the moment?

yeah i used filter media from my other tanks to start the cycle out then add my more hearty fish for about a week (dojo loaches)

ph = about 7, N = 17, temp = 76

and i don't think any sort of chemical could have got into the tank.
as for markings, there dosen't seem to be any but i'll look into that more over then next few days to see if anything comes up , would pictures help??? i would imagine that you guys may be able to spot something i could not. just an idea

lol ! i knew someone was going to bring up thier rather large size. yeah, as i said up there , they are only 2-3 inches long at the moment and i plan on up sizeing as nessesary. don't worry about that. lol !

Pangasius hypophthalmus

We're not worried; we just hope you aren't.

If you think your fish are stressed, try using stresszyme or a similar stress relief product. Are you sure you are feeding them right? Try varying up the diet if you are only feeding flakes.
