Where To Put Fish

You could just leave them in the tank while you clean yet. Since you never really change all the water at once they will have enough water to swim around in.

Leave them in the tank. You want to clean it by using a gravel vacuum and replacing part of the water with fresh dechlorinated water. There is no need to remove the fish for a normal cleaning. If you do much more than a vacuum and partial water change, you will not be treating your fish well. They will be stressed by extreme cleaning measures. Another routine measure will be cleaning the filter by rinsing out the parts of the filter in the water you have drained for cleaning. In this way, the filter will keep its biological filtration capability intact while you remove the stuff that plugs the filter and slows the flow.

Thanks for the help.

you'll find that some fish (mollies seem to do it a fair bit) come up and nibble on your fingers if you put your hand in the tank gently :)

Everytime i put the vacuum thing is the tank my Harlequin Rasboras swim up the bloody thing as it's sucking.

They then swim flat out against the current. :)

First time i thought i just wasn't being careful enough and stopped the flow only for the fish to shoot out the end at a rapid rate of knots.
They seem to enjoy swimming against the current though.

Inquisitive little buggers as well, they're always tasting me hand when it's in the tank.

The Cory's hide the second the lid raises, me Angel fish swims into a corner and watches from a distance, me female rainbows hang around with the Rasboras while the males hide :)

Can't say as any seem to be bothered long term though, as within 10 mins even the cory's come out for their "fresh water dance".
It's certainly less traumatic than netting them twice i recon.

Cheers
Mark
