Where To Get Endlers?

Hi Just been reading a bit about endlers, does any one know anything about these fish? Tankmates etc. also where abouts can these be bought? Thanks

I did a profile on them in the Index.

Pure strain is very hard to get hold of. The vast majority in lfs's are hybrids but can look very much like the "real thing". You'd have to join specialist Endler forums and keep an eye out if anyone there has stock available.

That said, there is absolutely nothing "wrong" with hybrids - as long as you don't breed them and then try and sell them on as pure strain.

Where in the UK are you ? Wholesale Tropicals in London sell fantastic hybrids (extremely close to pure strain) and Tropicals and Marines sometimes have pure strain black bar.

Maidenhead aquatics have got the pure strain as well. I've got four pairs.

York definatelyuu has them, and the guy said most of the branches do.

A word of warning. They munch you plants!!

Hi guys. thanks for all your replies, definitely want to get some now. I live in cheshire and have not seen any for sale around here. Not bothered whether they are 'pure strain' cos I wouldn't be breeding them for profit. Hey Arfie do you post?


Went on holiday to Derbyshire last year, stayed in Buxton and visited all the local caverns. Brill. Saw the Crooked Spire. awesome. Its a beautiful part of the country, your're lucky to live there.

Local shop pure endlers hide secrets

we got a lot from a local store (not their fault though as a hobiest had sold them to them as pure) they all looked great (like black bars).... the first of the ofspring to grow up soon showed that they were not pure

I've now got 3 tanks with different purchases of endlers in.. all looked good to start out.... all now have ofspring that prove differently

that though is a problem everywhere you go. even if you go through a "known breeder" or "pure strains". it's a risk you take. the best thing is to buy them anyways as they are amazing fish, and just don't sell them as "pure strains" either way. in fact you may not need to breed them and just keep them in your tank as they are good show peices (males anyways)
