So petsmart didn't have hardness test kits, except for the test strips which I figured would be horribly unreliable for what I need. I'm wanting to regulate my CO2 a bit better and make sure my hardness is acceptable since the water here is very soft. I also need to know how my tank is doing since it should be almost done cycling. I want to start adding fish, but I'm afraid to add new ones until I'm sure the pH is stable. I killed all my guppies already...

I'm starting to get algae so I need to order test kits ASAP... whats the best??

I am guessing you in in the states? then Hach or Lamotte are the best, although we can't get them in the uk and the API ones seem to be the most popular

Wow, those must be good, because they're expensive!! I want a beautiful tank, but not that bad... maybe if I had something bigger than 5 gallons...
