Sorry live in the UK. would it not be better to view the fish as you have no idea of the conditions they are kept in before you buy on the web. LFS are they so far away

I buy most of my filters, heaters, hoods, and that kind of thing at Petsmart online:

I watch for their free shipping offers which they do every few months. They usually put a minimum on the amount of money you have to spend to qualify, but it's worth not buying elsewhere and waiting for. If you get on their mailing list they will let you know when one is coming.

I'm a "compare and shop" kind of gal so I understand where you're coming from. In addtion to pricing at all my local shops, I also use ThatFishPlace, Drs Foster and Smith, and Big Al's Online for my equipment. Watch for sales (Big Al's has sales pretty regularly, and they'll price match if you find an item for less somewhere else), factor in shipping to be sure you're still saving over your local shops. Also, if your local shops are chain stores, sometimes their online prices will be less than their in-store prices and many will match that price in store if you bring in the print out of the online pricing.
