I need some suggestions for betta stores/sites in the U.S. I've only got a crappy Big Box Pet Store near me, and Google seems determined to send me to breeders only in Europe. Where do those of you in the states get your bettas?

Hi
On this forum there are Newfishy and Azulfire have both bred bettas, but i dont know if they have any at present? May be worth dropping them a pm?

I dont know whether you have looked, but there are some nice bettas on Aquabid. Ebay for fish lol. They would have to come through transhipper which are named on the site.

Sorry we got all the bettas over ere :D

As stated, AquaBid has some very nice bettas - I have purchased some on there from a couple different breeders.

I have also purchased from one breeder on Ebay - both of the bettas I received are very nice. Here is a sample of what he has listed right now (if you click on his store, you can find a total of 12 fish listed at this time - some males & some females):

Prices for the fish are reasonable, but you will have to pay for shipping. Not as much as a transhipper, but still a tad pricey, IMO.

Good luck and I hope that helps! :)

I dont have any young bettas at the moment (starting up breeding again in the spring, its too darn cold where I live right now)

I have gotten most of my breeding stock off aquabid and a few bettas from lfs. the aquabid bettas have always been stunning and great fish. the lfs fish its a game of luck, I have gotten nice fish but I quarentined the heck out of them first and sometimes they have illness I just cant save them from.

also when going with local breeder or aquabid fish you know the age and generaly they are younger fish, most lfs male bettas are a year or more when you get them.

btw thanks bronzecat.

Yeah, bronzecat, quit hogging 'em over there! :p

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm also waiting on the cold weather, newfishy, but getting ready by window shopping. I'll drop a few PMs once it's warm enough to ship.

I am looking for a purple betta. Does anyone know where I can find one?

good luck finding true purple. seems purple's nearly impossible to breed. Bettysplendens always has such lovely bettas on her site. <3 i'm totally in love with her bettas.

where in the states are you? most pet stores carry Bettas now, though they're often just VT's. my local pet store started carrying CT's and dragons of different fin types, and i got my beloved HMPK, Weiss, from there. :3 they got a stock of HUGE PK's in recently, and the poor fellas can't even move in their cups!

Hi, I am in Saint Louis, Missouri and looking for a breeder of Bettas nearby or, at least, in the U.S.A.
I am interested in halfmoons, and others, all colors....I suppose...I love them all. It is so hard to pick.
Any suggestions?

this is an old topic :look:

but aquabid and ebay have some good 1s i often look just because i know i can't buy them

Hi bettagorgeous :)

Let me suggest that you check with a local aquarium society to see if any of their members breed them. I don't know the location of where you live, but here are two that are in your state. I hope one is near you. It's a lot of fun going to meetings and they usually have auctions that non-members can benefit by as well.
