hello, i have the heater on the right hand side of the tank and i was wondering if i should put the internal filter on the left or right next to the heater? also my heater is set to 26 degrees and the thermometer is reading 22. what is causing this?
thank you

I got two filters and two heaters, on each side, right next to each other.

Mines been ok, but not sure if people will tell you otherwise!

My heater and thermometer never match up either. mines about 3 degrees out

ok.. i put the filter right next to the heater.. is this ok? also the heater box says to place it near water circulation so is this is the place?

Most people stick their heater diagonally at the back of the tank with outflow from their filter "blowing" at the heater itself but you also have to ensure you are disturbing the surface of the water to increase oxygen uptake. All this this helps distribute the warmer water around the tank and prevents you getting warm pockets in the tank which fish don't like. Same applies if your out flow is attached to a spray bar. Position the spray bar just above the water line at the back of the tank and above your heater. It is fine to be touching the water as this will cut down on noise but again its flow really needs to be directed towards your heater if possible. Don't worry too much if you can't. As long as there is some surface disturbance and a reasonable water flow around your tank you'll be fine.

With regard to temp. difference this is fine. Just shows that your heater ain't that great or the wrong size for your tank. Only worry if your tank water is no where near what youve set it to. May also be a problem with your thermometer thou.

thank you for the info. now what im worried about is the filter is a bit too powerful, its blowing the plants a bit. also is it ok to have the heater and filter (tank) near your bedside or does it have radiation or something?

The heater can be net to the filter, as long as theyre not touching, the intake of the filter will take in the heated water and distribute it around the tank.
