i just need to know how hard it is to find malayans or wrestling halfbeak's thanks

i found a site that has celebs (?) halfbeaks when I was looking for info for Sp00ky about golden halfbeaks...they're definitely interesting looking fish...although I think they kinda look like pike imo...

It would help if you told where in the world you are. ;) I know some sites, but they are all US based.

If you're in the UK, then you simply visit Tropical Fish Finder, type in "halfbeak" into the search box, and it'll find all the different species and show you where they are currently on sale.

Halfbeaks are not widely sold, and wrestling halfbeaks, Dermogenys spp. seem less common these days than Celebes halfbeaks, Nomorhamphus. In London, I find about 50% of the stores seem to carry Celebes halfbeaks regularly, but wrestling halfbeaks I've only seen a couple of times in the last year.

If you're planning on keeping halfbeaks, I have a lot of stuff on keeping and breeding them up on my web pages:

I got my Wrestling Half Beaks (Dermogenys pusillus) shipped to me from a store in Pennsylvania called That Pet Place (same name for the website www.thatpetplace.com). They had them labeled as Celebes Half Beak but they are definately Wrestling Half Beaks. The shipping was pretty expensive and I had to buy 6 to make sure I could (hopefully) get at least both sexes. I haven't seen them on Aquabid.com but hopefully there will be some soon as the spring warms things up for shipping.

I just bought four gold halfbeaks and they are the most awesome fish I've ever had. Not just the way they look but their behaviour is really cute and fun to watch. They're not scared of anything and will eat out of my hand! Best fish by a country mile... :good:

Welcome to our forum halfmanhalffish. Congrats on your pick up.

BTW: A 6 1/2 year old resurrection may just be a record for TFF.
