When Will It Be Ok To Add Fish?

Hi all,i set up a tank i got from a mate yesterday.I have put in filter sponge from established tank i have.How long before it would be safe to transfer my pleco into it and put new fish in?water quality is at the mo nil ammonia and 0.25 nitrite?

but i have mature filter sponges will that not make a difference?
