My tank had a really bad case of ICK. We had to move it anyway so after my last fish died we just emptied it out and cleaned it out and mover it. I've had it setup up (with water in it, aeration is on as well as the heater, it's at 77 degrees). I heard that if you've had ICK, without a host (fish) it will just die off. We wiped everything down wirh hot water. Wanted to wait till I'm ICK-less before I started the cycle azgain. I bought some aquarium salt to use just in case it comes back. In your experiences how much longer will I need to wait?

3-4 weeks without fish should clear the ICH. I'd start the cycle now, as this will not effect the ICH die-off, but starting now will save time later :good:

the ich parasites would be dead within around 3 days with no fish/living things to feed off

should only take around 1.5 weeks for you to rid yourself of it, but you have to wait until the white spots disappear, and THEN treat the water, as then you will definately kill the swimming parasites, raise temp to low 80's

The life cycle of ICH is about 2 weeks, so If we assume that they are eggs for about 10 days, and it takes three days to starve them wothout a hoast, then 13 days, neer enough 2 weeks is the time taken to rid a tank of ICH without hoasts. That is why I surgest 3-4 weeks to be certain that the parasite has indeed gone :good:

A raise in temporature, that you would do while cycling, would speed the life cycle. Doing as angel surgests may signifiantly reduce the time to clear the system.

All the best

Yeah but everything has been cleaned. The substrate is new substrate. All the pipes have been cleanes and even the water is 100% new. But I don't care to wait a while. As I'm still trying to decide what fish I wanna go with, probably convicts.

Go ahead and figure out what you would like in the tank but wait until its cycled to add any fish. The time of 3 or 4 weeks to finish a fishless cycle will be more than enough to clear out the nasty little parasites.
