hi,
i've heard 8 weeks but its only been 4 and they're nipping each other!

Is it time? I separated a little one who wasn't eating a week ago and now its fine. My system works and is ready for them so should I move them if the big ones are nipping each other?

thanks!

i find seperating them too early causes a high death rate with in a couple of weeks, they tend to be a little fragile at 1 month but some do survive. 8 weeks is the time when they are able to adjust to major water conditions that can be different to their outgrow. Even though there is nipping its suprisingly how quick a nipped tail and fins can grow back in such young fish due to their immune system being fresh and really high. Ive had fry like this and their fins grow perfectly. I would though take out the trouble makers and seperate if you really have to.

Yep.....we leave it until 8 weeks or more. Like Daz said they are bigger and more able to cope with the water changes then.
