New Nothobranchius coming .

Is there ANY Nothobranchius that isn’t a show of vivid colors ? These fish are certainly attractive . Normally something that doesn’t get me too excited but these colors are out of this world .

I've yet to see one that is not beautiful. Some are more vivid than others, but all are lovely. In terms of aesthetics, Nature was especially generous with this genus.

I did read somewhere that the males bright colors help the females find them in murky water . How anybody might know that , who knows ? All this color on a fish with a year or less lifespan . Nothobranchius are the bright shooting stars of the fish world .

Think of cardinal tetras, with some of the same colours. They come from tannin stained water, and when I bred them in such water, their colours appeared radically different. The blue was fluorescent green. A lot of Notho habitats I've seen photos of have been murky and muddy. I imagine as swamps with animals walking though in some cases, being visible helps.
I don't know what a Notho sees though. If they had eyes like mine they'd need glasses...
A lot of them live with very plain lampeyes though, whose eyes reflect but who have no other colours. So it doesn't always work.

This one comes from the same habitats as the palmqvisti I shared photos of above. They aren't all super colourful:
