Unfortunately my male convict has suffered the wrath of one of my Oscars , they are in a 5x2x2 tank ,two Oscars and a M and F convict pair , I was aware of the possibility of the convicts being aggressive towards the oscars and possible retaliation so I'm feeling pretty sh***y that I gambled and the fish lost...

they were getting along fine with the Oscars ignoring the convicts and the convict only becoming aggressive if the Oscars were right next to their designated hidey hole so I thought I was OK , the male convict disappeared for a couple of days so I feared the worst , I found him today ..looking like this ... I've got him segregated in the tank at the mo in a breeders net but I'm not sure what to do next, a different tank isn't an option.

Other than the obvious he's swimming around fine but is far more timid and hiding away for obvious reasons.

Fish are usually very resilient and as long as you keep the water clean he should be able to ward off most secondary illnesses. Only treat for an illness once symptoms have appeared other wise you wasting money and time on treating for something that just might not even be there.
The only problem with having your convict in a breeding net and not in a separate tank to heal, is that being confined in a smaller area than he is used to without his usual hidey holes and haunts is that he will get stressed. Stress weakens the immune system and allows secondary infections etc to take hold.
Personally I would pick one species of and stick to that so either rehome the convicts or the Oscar. Oscars are not generally the best tank mates for any fish that is smaller than them or can be bullied by the Oscar.

Has he lost his eyes? :(

On an off topic.. I witnessed a tank of Oscars at a LFS take the eyes of another, still alive and blind, was awful to see! But.. That's the nature of the fish after all :|

He's lost an eye.

and point taken about the species and size ,I read a fair bit about compatibility but unfortunately it wasn't to be . I've let him back into the tank and if I can will rehome them both .
