Usually, I just defrost some frozen peas for about an hour, de-shell and then mush them up and put in little amounts at a time for my White Cloud Mountain Minnows. I don't bother with boiling them or microwaving them, partly because in the week I do the feeding as soon as I'm home from work; I'm very particular about what I've had on my hands, such as soap (and do I rinse them under cold water a lot to make sure I'm not poisoning my fish), so I keep the mucking about to the minimum. I'm now worrying that maybe something in the peas might be poisoning the fish (not that I've noticed anything *touch wood*) from the method I'm employing. I've been feeding pea this way for a few months now, and I'm now doing it regularly in the week (about 2 times - I feed every other day, and have recently decided it's best to make every other feeding pea).

What makes you think your fish are being poisoned if there's nothing unusual to observe?
Shelled pea is good for preventing constipation: the frequency seems to be variable - personally I only give a pea once a month or so but I know some who advocate giving a pea once a week.
Where in the world are you,Kaidonni?

So long as you are rinsing your hands they will be fine. I do know where you are coming from so I am not going to say dont worry :),

Well, my main worry is anything used on the peas prior to being frozen that might harm the fish. I suppose that it's a little late now, and maybe I'm grasping at straws looking for anything to worry about; and since the female White Cloud Mountain Minnows gorge themselves on the pea anyway, I would have probably noticed something by now if anything was wrong *touch wood*.

Rather than begin a whole new topic, another question - how often to feed Pleco Multi Wafers to a Clown Loach? I'm in the process of finding him a new home, but until then I need to keep him as healthy as possible. I feed every other day, and make every other feeding one of the Tetra Pleco Multi Wafers (and every other feeding is flake food and catfish pellets).
