Hi, I just had some fry from one of my endlers and I I want to know when they are mature enough to breed so I know when to seperate the males from the females, and how do you tell the difference of gender in endler fry

Endler fry are easy to sex once they start to mature. They are much like any other common livebearer with the male developing a gonopodium and the female retaining a fan shaped anal fin. You can segregate the males as soon as you can identify which is which.

I am curious about why you would want to do that. I find endlers are a very nice fish to hold in a large breeding colony like this one.

Well I don't have much room in the tank, when I first got the endler it was supposed to be a Betta and an endler in a 5 gallon tank and now it is a Betta and 9 endlers in a 5 gallon tank so I don't want anymore I am finding a bigger home for the fry but want to keep them together until they are big enough to not get bothered by other fish in a different tank (males going to 10 gallon, females going to 14 gallon)
