just out of curiosity do you use any other fertiliser as well as tetrapond,if not it seems to work really well, nice looking tank and plants :good:

I guess it's each to their own if they want to call a few vallis in the back corner of tank a "planted tank".
For me it would be the point where people try and make the tank look as natural as possible having plants, wood and rock in their tank and removing the plastic sunken ship and no fishing sign. That's what I would of called it given my career in fishkeeping.

In my opinion, a 'planted tank' is one where the plants are growing - and there is effort from the keeper ensuring they thrive within whatever budget is available.

I don't fertilize, use Co2 or have any sort of special substrate - however I have an anubias berteri which has gone mad, covering 99% of the huge pieces of bogwood I have in the tank.

Also, the vallis (I know it's an easy one) is spreading across the whole tank - you can almost watch it grow!

Another one of my favourites is jave fern, which I know is another easy-to-keep plant, however it has also dominated any spare little crevis on the bogwood and continues to grow wherever it can.

Basically, I think if you care about the plants in you're tank and they are growing at a rate to fill every space they can - then it's got to be a 'planted tank' ..?

Paul.
