Wheeeeee! Just saw my guppy give birth!

Yeah! I've had 4 guppy births in my tank, but today was the first time I actually saw her pop them out. It was sooooo cool!

There was like this yellow loop coming out of her and then it became a tail and then all of a sudden she just started popping them out! She had about 7, all one after the other. I had not idea that so many could come out all at once!

Sorry, I'm sure some of you have seen this hundreds of times, but I just had to share!

That's awesome! I've never seen my guppies have fry, I always just kinda look in the tank and suddenly realize that little sliver of a thing isn't a fish turd floating around in the water but a baby! Good luck with them!

Yes, it was awesome!

Small_fry, with all of my other girls it was really obvious with their behaviour that they were going to give birth as they became very subdued and started to hide away from the other fish. With her though, she didn't seem phased at all and just popped them out right there in front of me!

I did know that she was going to have them very soon though as she is very transparent and I could see the little white rings of the fry's pupils in her stomach.

Her 'bottom' also became very open while she was in labour, so that if you looked at her in profile her underside almost 'kinked' downwards where her hole is.

I have seen all but one of my guppies give birth

Mostly they swim off to the plants and just float there but Shadow (RIP bless her) just swam around the first time and popped them out like your guppy

Thanks for the congrats! I have to say, now that I've seen it, I'm going to have my eyes stuck on the tank waiting for it to happen again. I felt so priveliged

I was messengering my hubby telling him all about it, fry by fry as it were. He's so jealous. I can see next time, he'll have me waiting with the video camera.
