Hi,
If I have read correctly you have a 15" oscar in a 48" tank? No offense but that seems like worse conditions than those little "betta cups" in the stores. Most standard 55 gallon tanks are only 48"x13"x20" it seems as if the fish couldn't turn around in the 13" depth. Maybe I misread your posts or you mistyped something. Just wondering if this is correct.
I would think an oscar that large would be really cool to have but would require a much larger volume of water to live comfortably.

she has lots of cruising room~granted a larger tank would be nice, but she was a rescue fish, tank and all, and has been with me for about 4 years and seems happy...i'd love to have nothing but big tanks, actually would like to live at the montery bay aquarium, "if wishes were horses..." and all. i appreciate your concern.

yeah you should get a rubber made stock tank for that fish, sure you dont get to see it from the sides but that oscar cant be happy in a 55.

a pacu is a vegatarian perahna (my spelling is poo i just woke up lol) and like some one said they grow big, I would have gone for a perahna that eats meat myself as they dont grow as big.

yes, but pacus aren't prone to devour eyeballs and fins without warning...
