WOW they are really common in the states. Every LFS around me has at least one. Have seen them for as low as $14.99, but usually around $30-40 American.

Are Powder blue tangs paler when younger? They have juvies around here all the time but i'm not sure if they are ill or it's normal.

They are £19.99 here

Nope they should be deep blue.
Alot depends on their current diet and stress levels of course. If they are fit and healthy then they should colour up once they have settled into captivity and of course making sure they have that all important diet of vetegable/algaes rather than meat.

Radiated - or clearfin - lionfish Pterois radiata

A lovely fish, and being of the Pterois Genus it looks like a "true" lionfish (P. volitans) but only gets to around half the size.

A lovely fish, or (as CFC put it) a marine hedgehog (pics from google):

Will definately be one of the first residents (or maybe a couple of them) when I get my marine pred tank going.

I used to like the spotfin lion more (Pteoris antennata) but having seen both in the flesh in lfs, I am far more impressed with the P. radiata.

As T. says this thread is a very old thread and the OP hasn't been online since 28th June 2007 - 03:22 AM, maybe it would be a good idea for people to check the date of these threads, before answering them

And this thread relates specifically to the OP why? Not trying to be hateful or anything like that, but I don't see anything wrong with this thread being reincarnated, its just a simple opinion thread.

The other one about lionfish names makes sense though.

My favorite is a Ocellaris Clownfish.
