johno that is exactly what I have sand and a black background and it looks stunning!! Dont have any pictures yet to upload though.

im going to have black gravel in my tank and wazs planning on having plain blue background but it looks better with a black background up there somewhere ^^^

bigc that tank background is stunning, simply stunning. what kind of rock and plastic backing is that? and did you just take the time to hand silicon each bit? wow


my tank is a simple black background made out of black construction paper, very cheap very very easy to put on, even after the tank is already full. my gravel is a natural smooth multisized stuff, thought it looked more natural, but if I was to do it again, I would go with black sand as a substrate.

ive got cork as a background in my tanks, and the one at home has got a magnolia wall, now thats b/c i was lazy when setting it up and put it to near the wall so i cant get one on it now without moving it, which im NOT gunna do

Thanks for the compliment It is still a job in progress as the plants are quite new,[as is the tank]and I am finding my way but the mopani wood does look good, and the 6 Silvertips and 6 Peppered Corys seem to like it.

Rocky background.......

Same tank as above, but stones......

Freshwater scape....this really added depth to the tank whereas I used to have solid black

This was before.....

I had to remove the black as my Tinfoils were always trying to play with their reflection. I really like the blue to....just doesn't match my decor.
