disco, my male veiltale, was bloated at first, so i thought it would be constipaton, so i fed him some peas etc, 4 days later, stil same size if not bigger, but now, he has like a cotton wooly infection on his body and he is being very lethargic (only going up for air), i have heard people going on about this before but i can't remember what the diagnosis was

any of you know, askme any questions about him if u need more

ps, can't get a pic up as my sister has taken it on holiday with her

thanks

paul

sounds like that cotton mouth disease to me, maybe post this in emergencies hun

Is there any pine coning of his scales......it's possible it could be the onset of Dropsy. Like Phoe said pop a post in emgergencies too.

there is no pineconing of the scales yet netty, just very very bloated, this is gona be hard for me if i lose my disco

i've had him 2 year

can cotton mouth disease spread around the body or does it stay around the mouth?

also, is dropsy contagious?

thanks

paul

its called columnus?? or summet like that? its a fungus disease that can spread as far as im aware

dropsy isnt contagious, only if say a dead fish that had it got nibbled on by other fish

post this in emergencies! wilder may be able to help

Myxacin is good for treating fungus if you have any. He may also need some anti bac too to treat any underlying problem. Have you noticed what his poo is like.....normal or stringy looking? I'd also do 100% water change too.

srry i didn't reply for a bit, i have done the water change and things like wilder and u guys have asked, all i can do nowis wait and hope for the best.

i don't like waiting to see if something is going to be dead or alive tomorrow

i got myxazin too netty, thats what i'm treating him with

and i also can't tell if his poo is stringy or normal because he is constipated lol

thanks

paul

Dropsy only contagious if a fish pecks at the dead body.
If the betta on its own then its fine.

Good luck Paul......it' really worrying when they're ill. We started treating Storm a couple of days ago now and we come down every morning expecting the worse....but she's still with us and doing ok so far. She had one whole gill area completely blocked up with fungus.....really horrible but she seems to be on the mend now.

Let us know how you get on. :good:

i will

thankyou guys and gals for all ure fantastic help

ure all stars

I had an older betta get dropsy without the pineconing of the scales. it wasn't until the very late stages (almost 10 days) that the pineconing showed up.

I was going to tell you to treat for any sort of bacterial and fungal infection regardless, but sounds like you have gotten some good advice already and ur treating. Best of luck... the thought of losing a betta is not fun.

he has picked up well today guys

all of the cotton wooly stuff has fallen off, trust me, there was loads lol, its was like he was covered in snow

he has pooed tho and the poo is more lumpy looking, he is still bloated tho

hopefully he is on the mend, he better had be

he is a little fighter (no pun meant lol)

thanks
