Hi

Replanted one of my tanks on Sunday, 60% of the plants were already in the tank, and everything looked really nice. I dosed with Florish and Excel, at the recommended dose, but yesterday a few of the plants started looking a little eaten (see picture).

The tank is 100L and I just use a sand substrate with no fertillisers, lighting is via 3 18w, and a yeast based CO2.

Stocking is two Rams, 4 guppies, and 4 pepper Corys.

Water parametrs are - PH 7.0, NO3 10mg\L NO4 0.0 PO4 0.25 Fe 0.0 GH 40 mg\L KH 20mg\L.

I think the problem is related to the fact I have not substrate fertiliser, and have increased the plant mass.

I have tried to order some root tabs from aquaessentials, but keep getting procssing errors when it comes to payment, and can't seem to find them on other sites.

Can anyone offer some advice on possible solutions, or please correct me if I'm wrong (hopefully I am).

Thanks

PS. Sorry for the quality of the pictures.

Are the swords new? Often swords do that when they are planted, original leaves die off, new ones grow OK. Either that or it is some kind of nutrient deficiency though I am not up on those so can't comment specifically.

Your lighting is also quite low, under 1wpg, but if you choose the correct plants it is not a bad thing.

Time for me to learn something I hope, but what's NO4? And also, why are you using both CO2 and Excel?

You could have introduced algae from your new plants (can't really tell from the photo's) or it could be a deficency of some kind (of a mobile element because old leaves are effected?), but if it is, it has happened rather too quickly in my mind.

U sure Nry, i got 2.1 wpg None the less lighting on those plants are pretty needy. They need deep substrate pentration but i think you offering them just enough. Same thing was happening with mine (similar with the leaves.. just wilting away) I looked into it and decided it was a potass deficientcy.. i dosed with potass and they got a bit better. I knew my plants were not getting what they needed so i started dosing with the EI method.. everything is coming together for me... i'v had no wilting in the last week and a half and they are all starting to grow nicer.. EI plays a big method into giving plants what they need to grow.

Regardless those leaves are dying so prune them off, reduces stress to the plant

Just going by what happened to mine, I think the original leaves can get damaged in transit/handling which can trigger them going a bit transparent and 'brown'.

no i was saying you sure about the WPG

He's got 3 x 18 Watts = 54 , 100 L / 54 watts = 2.1 wpg
