Hi all,

Can anyone tell me whats up with my Cabomba?

Pics to follow. Looks whitish towards edges of leaves and have also gone really "floppy". I've added a nitra-zorb pack recently. could this be affecting them?

Any ideas would be great.

Many thanks

1) It's actually called Camboda
2) It seems to be fine, however i'm not very good with plants as i'm fairly new to it. It could be some kind of nutrient deficiency, but your better off waiting for an answer off someone more experienced than myself.

Nope, pretty sure its cabomba

Got a feeling I prunned it wrong. I clipped the tops and kept the bottoms, not the other way round. - But this still shouldn't resault in this, it should just stop them growing.

Hi mate,

It is cabomba ;)

I`ve been growing this very succesfully in my new tank recently until i uprooted it and chucked it out.

I use to just chop the ends of as near as i could to two shoots coming from the stem. This would result in no growth for a day or two until one of those stalks would turn into the main stem and continue growing. Or a whole new stem would develop from the cut stem. either way, growing would continue as normal.

The only time that i got this white/yellow edge and floppy stuff was when the cabomba got shaded by another plant or by itself!!! and didnt have enough light!! could this be a factor?

So it is Cabomba!! :good:

mm.. interesting. Thats pretty much what I did so we'll see if it does grow.

As for being shaded, I've done several waterchanges recently due to a peak in amonia (due to overfeading) and the cabomba often folds under itself during these changes, and obviosly the light is not directly above during these changes either. I guess this is what has caused it, do you think so as well?

May I know why you're using nitra zorb? Is your tank new/in the process of cycling?

That right, still cycling. Had apeak of amonia and nitrites so was advised to get a nitra-zorb and use it for a few days.

Should I remove it?

I am curious? Mine looks good, planted new year day January 2006. The ghost shrimp seem to like it. A very popular plant. The pictures you posted are of a Very healthy carolina.

I have had a yellow-yellow-ish ends on a few. None of the stems died though. Can not help you with white stuff,
