Hmm... hard to tell. It could be a bit of algae? Does it move by itself? I would suggest removing it..

Its disappeared now, hoping it was just algae that got moved in a water change...

Did it move at all? It looked like a mouldy bloodworm, or mouldy piece of poo.
If it moved or you've never fed bloodworm or anything red, that it can't be either of those.

I haven’t haven’t fed anything red... could it be snail poop? There are currently 100+ pest snails in my tank
