What's This?

Hi there,

I am assuming that this is some kind of fungus but I just wanted to make sure as it only grows in the corner where my cores spend the vast majority of their time?
When I've wiped it away before it kinda just disintegrates like powder, but it seems to be growing back again quite quickly, anyone know what it is?

Is it linked to those plant roots if it is it does look like rotting roots

Nah its not linked to anything. I get it growing just on the glass, its just the pic I got was by the plant.
At the moment I have a really small bit growing in the corner of my glass nowhere near any plants =/

ah that didnt work. i just put a description of it in google. they were saying its probably caused by decaying matter and its feeding off the biofilm on your glass. regular cleaning should get rid of it. also to do with too many nutrients in the water...

Hmm, so over feeding? I scrub it off as soon as I see it and do weekly water changes so hopefully feeding a little less and keeping up with cleaning will get rid =]

hopefully people often mention fungus (not actually on the fish tho, that is a prob) on this forum as unsightly but nothing to freak about - like i did lol wood often gets it when you first add it to a tank. the corner i got it was where some pellets had gathered and gone uneaten. my shrimp take care of things like that now, along with minimal feeding. i was one of those 'well they look hungry, what if theyre hungry?! - add a bit more...' people lol
